Smart’s Pong Gaming Installation

Microcar manufacturer Smart and agency BBDO Germany have created a really cool interactive gaming installation for the launch of the new, third generation, electric Smart Fortwo at the Frankfurt Motorshow. Based on the iconic computer game Pong, the installation uses multiple sensors to track two cars’ exact positions, ultimately controlling each player’s pong paddle on a giant screen in front of them. The stunt aimed to prove not only that the car is fun to drive, but also that it has a powerful acceleration, especially in the first meters. The campaign was a great success, attracting a crowd of 520,00 spectators during the event and picking up a considerable amount of traditional media coverage and online buzz.
